miniUPS-25-1-CA1 Buffer module for IP PoE devices
Description
miniUPS-25-1-CA1 is a compact backup power module designed to provide emergency power for PoE-powered devices, especially IP cameras. The module is housed in an outdoor ABOX-CA1 enclosure (IP68) and features a built-in 24 Wh battery.
The device ensures uninterrupted operation of PoE IP cameras in the event of power loss or cable failure. With instantaneous switchover to battery power, it prevents video loss and monitoring interruptions. Even without a connection to the main recorder, the camera can continue recording footage locally on its internal memory card.
As a result, IP cameras can maintain continuous recording during emergency situations.

The primary purpose of the miniUPS is to provide backup power for a PoE-powered IP camera. Installed close to the powered device, the module ensures uninterrupted operation and improves system resilience against communication failures as well as accidental or intentional cable damage.
miniUPS-25-1-CA1 automatically detects power loss and switches to battery operation instantly, ensuring that the connected camera remains powered without interruption. If neither input power nor a connected load is detected, the module will automatically shut down.
Examples of use:
- backup power for IP cameras at critical monitoring points
- ensuring continuous operation of PoE devices in case of cable damage or disconnection
- preventing video loss and gaps in recorded footage
- portable PoE power source for initial IP camera setup
A dedicated START button allows PoE output to be activated without connecting input power. This is particularly useful for configuring IP cameras without the need for a PoE switch.
The device is equipped with a built-in 24 Wh battery consisting of two LiFePO4 18650 cells (3.6 V, 3350 mAh each). This design allows for easy battery replacement.
The module does not supply power when no device is connected to the output. Power from the PoE switch is passed through only after the miniUPS is connected to a PoE-powered device.
The ports in the miniUPS-25-1-CA1 operate in pass-through mode, which means that the module does not interfere with auto-negotiation between the PoE switch and the powered device. For example, if both the switch and the PoE receiver operate in the 802.3at standard, the miniUPS will not interfere with establishing that connection.
The operational status of the miniUPS is indicated by a red LED. A steady light means that the module is receiving input power. A blinking LED indicates that the module has switched to battery operation.
Key features and functions:
- backup power support for PoE devices
- built-in 24 Wh battery
- ability to start the device from battery power
- IP68-rated outdoor enclosure
- low power consumption
ABOX-CA1 is an outdoor enclosure with an IP68 rating, designed to protect electronic equipment and cable connections in outdoor environments. The enclosure, measuring 165 x 65 x 55 mm, is fitted with a single M25 cable gland, which has two 6 mm diameter holes. The gland allows cables to be routed through while maintaining the enclosure’s complete seal. The enclosure can be mounted on a wall or pole using the optional ADD-PMACA1 adapter.
Installation notes
- To enable recording during power loss, the IP camera must have an internal memory card installed
- The battery can be disconnected, and the cells can be easily replaced
- It is recommended to connect a single PoE IP camera; however, multiple devices can be connected via extenders (e.g. ATP-3-11). In such cases, battery power is shared, significantly reducing backup time
- The ports in the miniUPS-25-1-CA1 operate in pass-through mode. This means that if both the PoE switch and the powered device support the 802.3bt (60 W) standard, the miniUPS will be able to deliver the full 60 W to the device. Caution should be exercised, as such high power consumption may damage the device. It is recommended to use the miniUPS with devices compliant with the 802.3af/at standards
